Kadokawa takes a chance on BitTorrent

Kadokawa Holdings has announced its plans to start selling its films in the U.S. over BitTorrent. Kadokawa Herald Pictures, the film production and distribution arm of the company, will supply the digital content, while the business will be managed by subsidiary Kadokawa Pictures U.S.

Kadokawa is the first Japanese company to offer content through BitTorrent in the United States. Films will be sold starting this month, with about 30 movies initially available, including the horror hit “Ringu.”
