Keiichi Yamamoto caught in rape scandal

Keiichi Yamamoto, half of the popular owarai duo Gokuraku Tonbo, is facing charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year old girl. On the night of July 16, Yamamoto was at a business hotel in Hakodate. A friend of his had brought a girl there, and Yamamoto forced the girl, a minor, to drink alcohol. He was also seen hitting on the girl.

At some time in the morning, the girl phoned the police. She and her family were questioned, and a report was filed the same morning.

Upon news of the scandal, Yoshimoto Kogyo (Gokuraku Tonbo’s company) announced the cancellation of Yamamoto’s contract. As a result, the duo will be dissolved, leaving Koji Kato without his partner.
