Nikkan Sports is reporting that Kenichi Matsuyama (25) has been chosen to star in NHK’s 2012 taiga drama, “Taira no Kiyomori.” No official announcement has been made yet, but if the report is true, it will be Matsuyama’s first time appearing in one of the taiga dramas.
NHK revealed in August that the 2012 series would be about Taira no Kiyomori, a general during the 12th century who led the Taira clan to power. As previously mentioned, the show’s producer is aiming to undo the villainous image that Taira no Kiyomori has had up until now.
