Kobayashi defends Krystal title with world record

On Saturday, the Krystal Square-Off was held in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and reigning champion Takeru Kobayashi successfully defended his title by eating 97 of the small, square Krystal hamburgers in eight minutes, setting a new world record in the process. U.S. phenom Joey Chestnut came in second place with 91 hamburgers, while Pat Bertoletti finished third with 76.

The Krystal Square-Off was first held in 2004, and Kobayashi has won all three of them so far. In 2005, he set the previous world record of 69 hamburgers.
