Last month, WOWOW announced that it will broadcast a drama mini-series called “Shokuzai,” based on a novel by “Kokuhaku” author Minato Kanae. It has now been revealed that the drama will star actress Koizumi Kyoko (45). Koizumi has not had a lead role in a television series since “Koi wo Nannen Yasundemasu ka” in 2001.

“Shokuzai” tells the story of a mother seeking revenge for the murder of her young daughter 15 years ago, focusing her attention on the four students who witnessed the killer’s face but can’t remember it. Koizumi will play the mother, but the actors playing the students and the rest of the supporting cast have not yet been revealed.

It was already announced that Kurosawa Kiyoshi is directing and writing the screenplay. Koizumi last worked with Kurosawa in the movie “Tokyo Sonata.”

Filming has already been completed. WOWOW plans to broadcast the drama as five episodes starting in January 2012, as part of its WOWOW Prime service. The first episode will be aired for free.
