Literary masterpieces being turned into short films

Six short stories by Japan’s literary masters are being dramatized in a new project called “BUNGO -Nihon Bungaku Cinema-.” The six 30-minute pieces will be aired on TBS next spring, followed by screenings in movie theaters during the summer.

The five authors included in the project are Osamu Dazai, Junichiro Tanizaki, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Ogai Mori, and Motojiro Kajii. Of them, Dazai has two stories being adapted.

The stories and their lead actors will be:
Osamu Dazai, “Ougon Fuukei” – Osamu Mukai (27), Yuka (29)
Motojiro Kajii, “Lemon” – Ryuta Sato (29)
Ogai Mori, “Takasebune” – Hiroki Narimiya (27)
Ryunosuke Akutagawa, “Majutsu” – Takashi Tsukamoto (27)
Junichiro Tanizaki, “Fumiko no Ashi” – Rosa Kato (24)
Osamu Dazai, “Good-Bye” – Masayoshi Yamazaki (37), Asami Mizukawa (26)
