Maki Ohguro announces hiatus for medical reasons

Singer-songwriter Maki Ohguro (40) has revealed that she will be taking a break from her musical activities at the end of October. She announced on her official website on Wednesday that she will be undergoing medical treatment for her uterus, and there is a possibility that she will need to have a total hysterectomy.

Ohguro mentioned that she was first diagnosed with uterine problems in late 1996, and her condition has worsened over time. Her symptoms currently include uterine tumors, ovarian cysts, and endometriosis all at the same time. As a result, there is a lot of swelling in her reproductive organs, which has been putting pressure on other organs and causing other medical problems.

Because of the high risk that a hysterectomy will be necessary, she has decided to go on hiatus as a musician so that she can fully devote her time and energy to treatment. Ohguro also revealed that she has attempted in vitro fertilization several times, but it repeatedly resulted in miscarriage.

Ohguro made her singing debut in 1992 and has had several hits, such as “Da-Ka-Ra” and “Natsu ga Kuru.”
