May’n to perform at Budokan

Promising young singer May'n (19) will be doing her first solo Budokan show next year. She is perhaps best known as the singing voice of the character Sheryl Nome, from the “Macross Frontier” anime series.

May’n joined Horipro in 2003 after being selected in the music audition of the 28th Horipro Talent Scout Caravan. She released her first single in 2005 under her full name May Nakabayashi, and in May 2008 she changed her stage name to May’n. With her appointment as the singing voice of Sheryl Nome, she finally found success on the music charts. She took the stage at the Nippon Budokan last November, but it was part of an event for “Macross Frontier.” This time, on January 25, she will have the opportunity to perform there by herself.

May’n is only the second female singer managed by Horipro to hold a solo concert at the Budokan. The first was Momoe Yamaguchi, who performed her retirement concert there in 1980.
