MEG does voice acting for anime film, provides music with Yasutaka Nakata

Singer MEG is challenging her first voice acting role for an animated movie called “Norageki!” She has also been chosen to provide the theme song.

“Norageki!” revolves around an unusual group of people placed in an isolated facility, who try to make their escape when a power failure strikes. The group consists of an honest-seeming young man (voiced by Miyu Irino), a sexy woman (Takako Honda), a middle-aged ex-soldier (Kazuma Mori), a female otaku with a childlike appearance (MEG), a mysterious old man (Seizo Kato), and a cat.

Hiroaki Ando, who did artwork for “Tekkon Kinkreet” and was CGI director for “Steamboy,” is in charge as director. “Cowboy Bebop” and “Eureka Seven” screenwriter Dai Sato is handling the script.

MEG’s theme song is a version of “Kuroneko no Tango,” a song originally based on an Italian children’s song that became popular in Japan. MEG’s cover of the song will remain in Italian and is being produced by Yasutaka Nakata. Nakata is also in charge of the film’s soundtrack.

Currently, no plans have been announced for either a CD or digital release of “Kuroneko no Tango.”

“Norageki!” will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 25, 2011. Starting on January 22, the film will also be screened in 5 theaters around the country as part of an event called “ANIME FES. ‘VS’.”
