Mirei Kiritani to star in “Ongakubito”

Model Mirei Kiritani (19) has taken on her first starring role in a movie. She is paired up with Kazuma Sano (20) for a picture called “Ongakubito,” which is the first full-length theatrical film by director Hidetaka Ito.

Ito wrote the script with Chieko Shimizu, based on works by writers ERINA and Aya Mori. The story is set in a music school, where a group of young adults deal with romance and their passion for music. Other cast members include Rika Adachi, Yasuhisa Furuhara, and Keisuke Kato.

Kiritani and Sano both acted together in the recent “Otomen” drama series on Fuji TV.

Filming for “Ongakubito” finished recently. The movie will open in theaters next year.
