Miyane, Takigawa to co-host news show

Freelance announcer Seiji Miyane (46), well-known throughout the Kansai area, will begin commuting to Tokyo in April for a new show on Fuji TV. He is being paired up with popular announcer Christel Takigawa (32) to create a formidable combination that the network hopes will keep the show’s ratings high.

The show, titled “Mr. Sunday,” will air on Sunday nights at 10:00pm. Miyane currently appears on the weekday morning show “Ohayou Asahi Desu” (aired on the local Kansai station ABC TV), but he announced at the end of last year that he would be leaving the show at the end of March. With the opening in his schedule, Fuji TV recruited Miyane for “Mr. Sunday.”

However, Miyane still has his regular part on NTV’s weekday afternoon program “Jouhou Live Miyaneya,” which is broadcast from Osaka. As a result, he will travel to Tokyo every weekend for “Mr. Sunday,” then rush back to Osaka on Monday morning to make it in time for “Miyaneya.”

Fuji TV plans to start “Mr. Sunday” on April 18.
