Music producer Nujabes dies at 36

DJ and hip-hop producer Nujabes passed away last month, it has been learned. Nujabes (whose name was a reversal of his real name, Jun Seba) died as the result of a car accident last month. He was 36 years old.

News of Nujabes’ death first hit the internet on Wednesday and quickly spread through Twitter and other sites. The next day, the record label he founded, Hydeout　Productions, confirmed the producer’s death on its official website. According to the message posted, Nujabes was involved in a car accident in Tokyo’s Minato ward on February 26. He was taken to a hospital in Shibuya but could not be saved.

Hydeout Productions stated that Nujabes left behind some unreleased recordings, which will be released in the future.

Nujabes’ works include music for the anime series “Samurai Champloo” and collaborations with artists such as Shing02 and MINMI.
