Nao Matsushita to play wife of “Gegege no Kitaro” author

On Friday, NHK publicly revealed its heroine for next year’s Asadora “Gegege no Nyoubou.” Actress Nao Matsushita (24) said she got the offer back in April, but had kept quiet about it until now, even from her own parents.

NHK officially announced the drama series earlier this year. It is based on an autobiography by Nunoe Mura, the wife of mangaka Shigeru Mizuki. As a couple, the two had to face many obstacles before Mizuki eventually attained fame with “Gegege no Kitaro.”

Filming starts in November for the drama, which begins its run on NHK on March 29, 2010.
