On Thursday, NTV revealed that two of its programs, “Ito-ke no Shokutaku” and “Sarujie,” will end next spring as part of its effort to increase ratings. “Ito-ke no Shokutaku” (Tuesday 7:00pm) is a variety program focusing on household tips that has been running since 1997. Once very popular, the show has recently been receiving much weaker ratings. “Sarujie” (Wednesday 7:58pm) is a wordplay-based celebrity quiz show that has also seen a drop in ratings.
NTV plans to open up a new variety show time slot on Thursdays between 7:00 and 9:00pm. It is possible that the two shows currently running during that time, “Tensai! Shimura Doubutsuen” and “Cream Stew no Tarirari de Ikimasu!!”, will move to the slots emptied by “Ito-ke no Shokutaku” and “Sarujie.”
