Olympic medalist Yukio Iketani injured in accident

On Friday morning, 37-year-old gymnast Yukio Iketani was injured in a car accident in Fuchu, Tokyo.

While Iketani was driving on a major road, another car suddenly emerged from a parking lot. He attempted to avoid the car, but he collided with two vehicles in the opposing lane. Iketani’s car was wrecked, and he suffered a neck sprain and other injuries. He is expected to take two weeks to recover.

The female driver of the first car (the one from the parking lot) is expected to be charged with negligent driving.

Iketani was a medalist at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics.
