Ryuta Sato to star as wrestler in ‘Gachi Boy’

Actor Ryuta Sato will play the lead role in “Gachi Boy,” the upcoming movie from Norihiro Koizumi (“Midnight Sun”).

The story is based on a 2004 stage production performed by theater group Modern Swimmers. Sato plays the college student Igarashi, a member of the professional wrestling club. Due to an accident that affects his ability to remember new things, he always forgets the arrangements for each match, causing him to treat each one as a serious contest.

Other cast members include Saeko, Shigeru Izumiya, and Riisa Naka. The picture will open in theaters next spring.
