Satomi Kobayashi, Kyoko Koizumi co-star in “Mother Water”

A new movie titled “Mother Water” is in the works, featuring many of the same cast and staff members as the recent films “Kamome Shokudo” (2006), “Megane” (2007), and “Pool” (2009).

The film’s seven stars are Satomi Kobayashi, Kyoko Koizumi, Ryo Kase, Mikako Ichikawa, Kento Nagayama, Ken Mitsuishi, and Masako Motai. Kobayashi and Motai appeared in all three of the earlier films, while Kase was in the latter two. “Megane” also had Ichikawa and Mitsuishi in its cast.

“Mother Water” is set in Kyoto, revolving around the lives of three women and their interactions with other members of their town. The key trio of characters consists of Kobayashi as the owner of a bar that only serves whiskey, Ichikawa as a tofu maker, and Koizumi as a coffee shop worker. The rest play a used furniture dealer (Kase), a public bath owner (Mitsuishi), a public bath employee (Nagayama), and a mysterious middle-aged woman (Motai).

The film is being directed by Kana Matsumoto. Theatrical release is currently scheduled for October 2010.
