Shunsuke Daito injured in traffic accident

Young actor Shunsuke Daito (24) was recently injured in a motorcycle accident, it has been learned. While riding his motorcycle in Tokyo’s Setagaya ward on June 18, he collided with a car, resulting in a compound fracture in his femur. It is said that Daito was not at fault in the accident.

Daito was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery on the 19th. He is expected to stay in the hospital for two weeks to recover.

Daito currently appears in the TBS drama series “Tumbling.” He is scheduled to appear in TV Asahi’s “Keishichou Keizoku Sousahan” starting on July 22, but his injury will likely have an impact on the role.

UPDATE: More details about the accident have been reported. Around 10:30pm on June 18, Daito was riding his moped in Setagaya. At the Wakabayashi intersection, he rode straight through, but a car coming from the opposite direction made a right turn, and the two collided. Police from a nearby police box called for an ambulance, and Daito was quickly taken to a hospital where he received surgery. Police are currently investigating the accident.

Filming for “Keishichou Keizoku Sousahan” is scheduled to start on the 28th. Because Daito will need some rehabilitation even after he leaves the hospital in two weeks, there is a strong possibility that he will be removed from the show’s cast.

Filming for the NTV talk/variety show “Kokoro Yusabure! Senpai ROCK YOU” will also likely be affected.

For “Tumbling,” part of the final episode (June 26 broadcast) is being shot on the 21st, so Daito will be absent. However, Daito is planned to star in a stage version this September that continues the story of “Tumbling” five years after the drama. He hopes to perform in that as planned.
