Singer Shinji Yamada dies at 70

Actor and singer Shinji Yamada died of interstitial pneumonia on October 15, it was learned on Monday. He was 70.

Yamada appeared in many films in the 1950s. His filmography includes starring roles in “Natsume Soseki no Sanshiro” and “Tokyo no Hito Sayonara,” as well as a lead male performance in “Janken Musume,” which starred Hibari Misora, Chiemi Eri, and Izumi Yukimura.

As a singer, his biggest hit was the 1956 release “Aishu no Machi ni Kiri ga Furu.” He also performed at the Kohaku Uta Gassen in 1959.
