Singer Togawa organizes record-breaking karaoke marathon

Singer Yoko Togawa, who released her debut single “Together” on February 14, helped organize a charity karaoke marathon. The goal was to break the previous world record of 142 hours, held by a team in Australia.

The event took place at a karaoke bar in Shinjuku. It started on March 30 and ended on April 11, lasting the fully scheduled twelve days, though a brief problem with the karaoke machine threatened to ruin their attempt for the record. Several hundred people participated in the 214-hour session, singing a total of 3,630 songs.

For each song, a vaccine was sent to a child in a developing country.
