SOPHIA keyboardist diagnosed with lymphoma
Rock band SOPHIA announced on Sunday that keyboardist Keiichi Miyako (38) has been diagnosed with lymphoma. As a result, he will be taking a break after the band’s current tour in order to undergo medical treatment.
Miyako, who is married to singer Ruriko Kubo (40), experienced swelling of a lymph node in early February. He underwent exploratory surgery on February 17 to determine the cause, and it was discovered to be lymphoma.
Currently celebrating the 15th anniversary of their debut, SOPHIA is in the middle of a tour that is scheduled to end on April 10. Miyako will focus on treatment after that, while the other four members of the band continue with their solo activities.
It was recently
announced that SOPHIA has been invited to perform at
Anime Expo in Los Angeles (July 1-4). The band will still attend as planned, though Miyako will be absent.
