Sparta Locals to disband

Rock band Sparta Locals is calling it quits after 11 years. On Sunday, the group’s four members posted a message on their official website, declaring that they have decided to disband.

Fronted by guitarist/vocalist Kosei Abe, Sparta Locals formed in Fukuoka in 1998. Since their major label debut in 2003, they have released six singles and seven albums. Their current lineup consists of Kosei, guitarist Shinichi Ito, bassist Mitsuhiro Abe (Kosei’s younger brother), and drummer Takeshi Kajiyama.

The band’s last show will be on September 23 at Shibuya AX. After that, the four members will be pursuing their own paths as musicians.
