SPEED’s Imai has new movie role

Eriko Imai, of the recently reunited group SPEED, has been given her first film appearance since five years ago. The movie is “Yuzuriha ~Kimi mo Mata Tsugi no Kimi e~,” directed by Kentaro Hayase.

The picture is a 60th-anniversary project of the Japanese Federation of the Deaf. Imai recently revealed that her 3-year-old son Raimu has hearing problems. In the movie, her role requires the use of sign language. She commented that she has been learning it for the past 5 months, and she recalled her joy when Raimu learned to call her “mama” in sign language just two months ago.

Imai’s last movie role was in Yojiro Takita’s “Onmyoji II” in 2003. “Yuzuriha” is being released next year.
