“Sukeban Deka” director Tanaka Hideo dies at 78
Movie and television director Tanaka Hideo died of stomach cancer at a Saitama hospital at around 1:30pm on the afternoon of July 9. He was 78 years old.
Tanaka is perhaps best known for directing the 1987 movie “Sukeban Deka” and its 1988 sequel “Sukeban Deka: Kazama Sanshimai no Gyakushuu,” as well as part of the television series the movies were based on. He also worked on two “Uchuu Keiji Shaider” films and the corresponding TV series. Throughout his career, he helped direct dozens of other television shows, including “Ninja Captor,” “Moero Attack,” and “Hana no Asuka-gumi!”
