Taichiro Hirokawa, voice of Roger Moore, dies of cancer

Voice actor Taichiro Hirokawa (real name Shinjiro Hirokawa) died of cancer at a Shibuya hospital on March 3, it was learned on Saturday. He was 68.

Hirokawa was best known for doing the voice of Roger Moore in the Japanese dubs of several James Bond movies. Hirokawa also frequently supplied voices for characters played by Tony Curtis, Robert Redford, and Michael Hui.

Anime fans may remember Hirokawa for voices in many TV series, such as Mamoru Kodai in “Space Battleship Yamato” and Snorken in “Moomin.” Hirokawa was also active as a narrator, TV personality, and radio DJ.
