Takehiko Ono hits police car

Actor Takehiko Ono (66) was involved in a minor traffic accident with a police car late on Sunday night. He was driving his car in Tokyo’s Setagaya ward at around 1:30am, when the accident occurred at an intersection on his way home.

Ono was attempting to make a left turn when he noticed a patrol car going through the intersection from his right side. Ono was able to step on the brakes, but his vehicle still was too far into the intersection, resulting in a minor collision.

The front right of Ono’s car scratched the rear left side of the police car. Fortunately, neither Ono nor the two male officers in the police car were hurt.

According to Ono, he mistook the green light as his, believing that it was safe for him to turn. He immediately apologized, and because the damage was minor, the case is not being sent to the prosecutor. Instead, the incident will be handled through their insurance agencies.
