THE BAWDIES win CD Shop Awards

The winners of the 2nd CD Shop Awards were announced on Thursday. The awards were voted on by a nationwide organization of CD shop employees.

This year, the grand prize was given to rock band THE BAWDIES for their album “THIS IS MY STORY.” The group formed in 2004 and released their first indie album two years later. “THIS IS MY STORY,” released last April, is their first one on a major label.

Ryujin Kiyoshi’s “PHILOSOPHY” and Superfly’s “Box Emotions” received runner-up honors. The other seven nominees for the grand prize were:
Free” – Mao Abe
Shinshiro” – Sakanaction
Sanmon Gossip” – Ringo Shiina
Ainowa” – Hanaregumi
FACT” – FACT
Shamble” – UNICORN
Altocolony no Teiri” – RADWIMPS
Foreign albums were also voted on in a separate category. The grand prize went to Lady Gaga’s “The Fame,” and the runner-ups were Diane Birch’s “Bible Belt” and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart’s self-titled album.
