Tomomi Kahara taken to the hospital

Singer Tomomi Kahara (36) was taken to the hospital on Saturday night, it has been learned.

At around 1:00am, she got into a taxi in Kabukicho, but she was only vaguely conscious and was unable to speak. The driver took her to the police station for assistance, and she was then taken to the hospital for medical attention. According to police, Kahara was carrying sleeping pills at the time.

Kahara, whose rocky career has been on hold since 2007, has been in the news several times for personal problems. She was hospitalized in 1999 after an apparent suicide attempt by gas poisoning in her own home, and a few months later was found passed outside her house. In January 2009, she was treated for tranquilizer overdose. Just last month, she had another incident in Kabukicho similar to last night’s, though she did not need to be taken to the hospital.
