Tortoise Matsumoto sings a solo theme song

Ulfuls frontman Tortoise Matsumoto is doing his first movie theme song as a solo artist. His “Hana no You ni, Hoshi no You ni” will be used in Tetsu Maeda’s semi-documentary “Buta ga Ita Kyoushitsu,” which stars Satoshi Tsumabuki.

“Hana no You ni” was originally intended to be Matsumoto’s first solo single this past June. However, he was offered the chance to sing the theme for the NTV drama series “Hokaben,” which resulted in his “Namida wo Todokete” being released first. After being offered the tie-in with “Buta ga Ita Kyoushitsu,” he decided that “Hana no You ni” fit the movie’s image.

Early information about the movie was revealed last October. The release date for the film has been set for November 1. The song’s CD has not been given a date yet, but digital distribution will begin in October.
