Untouchable’s Shibata on medical leave

Comedian Hidetsugu Shibata (34), part of the duo Untouchable, will be taking an indefinite break from show business, apparently due to illness. His management announced the news on Saturday, indicating that Shibata will be undergoing a lengthy treatment.

According to Shibata’s agency, certain medical test results have not yet been released, so the specific illness and the duration of the treatment are unknown for now. Shibata had health problems previously, when he took a 3-month break in 2007 for acute hepatitis.

The Untouchable duo, which consists of Shibata and Hironari Yamazaki (34), currently has a regular appearance on five television shows, including TV Asahi’s “Ikinari! Ougon Densetsu” and “Quiz Presen Variety Q-sama!!” For those two shows, episodes have already been recorded for early February, but plans for future episodes will soon be decided.
