Warner Brothers planning live-action movie adaptation of manga “Bleach”

Entertainment news source Variety reports that Warner Bros. has licensed the live-action movie rights to Tite Kubo’s popular supernatural action manga “Bleach.” Warner Bros. is currently developing the project with Viz Productions, a subsidiary of Viz Media (which publishes the English version of “Bleach”).

Dan Mazeau (“Wrath of the Titans”) is in charge of writing the adapted screenplay. Peter Segal (“Get Smart”) is producing and may also direct. Other producers attached to the project include Michael Ewing (Segal’s partner at Callahan Filmworks), actor Masi Oka (“Heroes,” “Get Smart”), and Jason Hoffs (“The Terminal”). Branon Collucio will be executive producer, and Jon Berg will oversee the project.

According to Variety, Segal commented, “I’ve always been a huge fan of ‘Bleach’ and have great respect for its creator Kubo and the truly original and amazing world he has created in this manga.”

i can see it now. starring “insert white guy here” as kurosaki ichigo.

  • Rowanhime

They need to focus on CASTING!!!! Us fans don’t want to see another horrible adaptation like dragon ball, that was an epic fail. I hope it turns out like the live scion death note that would impress me. The wrong Ichigo and rukia will ruin everything!

  • Lordessex

Hollywood will ruin it like every other cartoon and comic book adaption they’ve done. They don’t care about the fans, only making money

  • CalBear

Leonardo Dicaprio starring as  Kurosaki Ichigo and Megan Fox as Rukia…
