Warner Music Japan CEO passes away in apparent suicide

Takashi Yoshida, the 48-year-old CEO and president of Warner Music Japan, suddenly passed away on the afternoon of October 7. Some sources are reporting that Yoshida hanged himself in his own home, and police are currently treating the incident as a suicide.

Yoshida’s wife reportedly discovered him upon returning home from shopping. No suicide note was found. According to Warner Music Japan, Yoshida was recently visiting a hospital for depression.

Yoshida became president of Warner Music Japan in 2003. Some of the artists he helped develop include Kobukuro, Ayaka, Superfly, and Mariya Takeuchi.
