Yajima Biyoshitsu, Seiko Matsuda collaborate

The parody music group Yajima Biyoshitsu just released their first album last week, but they won’t be providing the theme song for their upcoming movie by themselves. Instead, they have teamed up with iconic singer Seiko Matsuda (48), forming the combination of “Yajima Biyoshitsu feat. Princess Seiko.”

Their tune, titled “Idol Mitai ni Utawasete,” is said to be reminiscent of the idol music of the ’80s, when Matsuda was at the height of her career.

The movie tells the background story of the Yajima family (played by DJ OZMA and the comedy duo Tunnels). Matsuda has been given a special guest appearance in the movie, playing a pop star named Princess Seiko. As a result of her participation in the film, the three members of Yajima Biyoshitsu asked her to also be part of the the theme song. However, because of their busy schedules, Yajima Biyoshitsu and Seiko Matsuda had to record their parts separately.

“Yajima Biyoshitsu THE MOVIE” opens in theaters on April 29. The collaborative theme song “Idol Mitai ni Utawasete” will be released as a single several days earlier, on April 21.
