Yoshiki to undergo surgery

X Japan leader Yoshiki will be undergoing emergency surgery on Monday in a Los Angeles hospital. He has been diagnosed with a herniated disc in his neck, requiring a discectomy.

On Sunday night, Yoshiki reported to his fans through his mobile site that he would be receiving surgery. He will be hospitalized on Monday, and the complicated operation is said to start at 8:00am.

Yoshiki’s doctor has stated that he will need complete rest following the surgery, with several weeks expected for recovery and at least a month of rehabilitation. There is also the possibility of further surgery in a few months if his condition does not improve.

Yoshiki has been suffering from chronic disc herniation for several years, and it has already led to postponed and canceled concerts. This latest hernia may lead to even more, as his schedule in the next few months includes a show on August 22 in Mie and one on October 10 in France.
