Yoshimi Tokui stars as former yankee in live-action movie “Bakugyaku Kazoku”

Yoshimi Tokui (35), one half of the comedy duo Tutorial, has landed the starring role in “Bakugyaku Kazoku: Bakugyaku Family,” a movie adaptation of the “Bakugyaku Kazoku” manga by Hiroshi Tanaka (“BADBOYS”). The film will also feature a supporting cast of Kento Hayashi, Sadao Abe, Tetsuji Tamayama, Nao Omori, Kazuki Kitamura, ARATA, and Mitsuko Baisho.

Tokui previously starred in his own short film “nijiko,” as well as the feature-length film “Tengoku wa Mada Tooku” with Rosa Kato.

“Bakugyaku Kazoku” originally ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 1994 to 2004. The story follows a group of former teenage delinquents who are now much older but still consider themselves a family. Tokui plays Tetsu, a former gang leader now working in construction, while Hayashi plays his son Shuhei.

The film is being directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri (“Freesia,” “Kaitanshi Jokei”) and is scheduled for release in November.
