D-BOYS member Yu Shirota will star in the live-action film based on Satoshi Yoshida’s popular manga “Arakure Knight.” The original manga was serialized in Shonen Gahosha’s “Young King” magazine from 1995 to 2005. By popular demand, it continued in Arakure Knight Magazine until last November. The 28 tankobons have sold a total of more than 10 million copies.
In “Arakure Knight,” Shirota takes on the role of Naito Zenba, a 17-year-old in a biker gang. Shirota is perhaps best known for his role as Kunimitsu Tezuka in the “Prince of Tennis” movie. He also starred in “June Bride” last year, another movie based on a Satoshi Yoshida manga.
