On Monday, singer Yuya Takahashi was sentenced to prison in his trial for drug possession. He was arrested in November for carrying stimulants. The prosecution sought a two-year term, but judges gave him 18 months instead.
Takahashi was previously arrested ten years ago for the same offense, while he was in high school. He was later arrested a second time and in 2001 received a two-year sentence, suspended for 5 years. This time, the judge explained that given Takahashi’s record, he could not grant a suspended sentence again.
